A ceremony to honor fallen law enforcement officers was held in Austin Monday at the Texas Peace Officer Memorial, and a local constable killed in the line of duty was among those remembered.

Brazos County Constable Brian Bachmann died in a shooting last summer in College Station while he was serving a notice for a renter to appear in court for not paying rent.

His name, along with 24 others, was added to a list of officers who've died in the line of duty in the past year.

A parade of officials traveled from the Congress Avenue bridge to the steps of the state capital where a ceremony was held.

Bachmann's parents attended the ceremony.
