CONROE, Texas (AP) A hearing won't be held until early next year on whether a Southeast Texas man will be tried as an adult for a crime he's accused of committing as a 13-year-old - allegedly dousing a boy with gasoline and then setting him on fire in 1998.
Don Willburn Collins is facing a murder charge in Robert Middleton's death.
Authorities say Collins poured gasoline on Middleton, 8 at the time, and set him on fire. Middleton survived but died in 2011 from skin cancer authorities say was caused by the burns.
During a court hearing Monday in Conroe, Collins' attorneys said they'll need at least 90 days to prepare for a hearing to decide if Collins can be tried as an adult.
He's being held on a $1 million bond.
