SOUTH BRAZOS COUNTY Fire crews went head to head with a huge fire at a barn in South Brazos County Thursday.
It started early in the afternoon on a property near F-M 159 & Allen Farm Road, according to crews on scene. It sent up a plume of smoke that was visible for miles.
Three different fire departments were called to help battle the flames, which were doused fairly quickly.
An assistant fire chief said wind helped the flames spread quickly.
Family members of the owner say hay and farm equipment were inside. No word on what sparked it, but witnesses reported hearing loud popping noises and say they think it could have been electrical.
