Houston firefighters have blamed strong winds for pushing a strip mall blaze into two nearby vacant houses.
Officials say nobody was hurt in the fire that broke out shortly before dawn Thursday. Authorities are trying to determine what sparked the blaze in southeast Houston that damaged or destroyed several businesses.
The Houston Fire Department says the two adjacent empty residences were heavily damaged. Further details weren't immediately released.
The National Weather Service says gusts at the time of fire neared 30 mph. The blaze was brought under control shortly before 7 a.m.
