Crews from three Milam County fire departments spent several hours Wednesday battling a fire that destroyed a popular Cameron bar and grill.

When the fire at the Longhorn Bar and Grill restaurant started around 3:30 p.m. yesterday employees and customers that were inside the building managed to escape without suffering any injuries.

Cameron firefighters say the building was fully engulfed and despite receiving assistance from Milano and Rockdale firefighters, crews were unable to prevent the south wall of the restaurant from collapsing.

Investigators say the parts of the building that remain standing suffered severe structural damage plus, some areas have been harmed by smoke or destroyed by water.

At this time the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
