--UPDATE-- 2pm- The fire originated in the rear bedroom of the mobile home and was caused by an electrical short igniting bedding (mattress).
A late night fire destroyed a mobile home at Woodway Mobile Home Park, 3031 Texas Avenue, No. 6, and displaced two residents.
Fire units were dispatched at 9:22 Monday night to reports of smoke and flame coming from the home. The first fire unit arrived at the scene at 2126 hours and reported that the small home was fully engulfed in flames.
The fire was quickly extinguished by 9:34 Monday night.
No injuries were reported.
No residents were home at the time of the fire. They are being assisted by the fire department’s Community Action Response Team (CART).
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office. Because of the extent of the damage, the investigation may take some time.
Seven fire units, staffed by 21 personnel, responded to this incident. They were assisted by several College Station police officers and crews from College Station Utilities.
