SOUTH COLLEGE STATION- Fire Investigators are looking into the cause of a fast moving blaze that damaged two vehicles, caused a grass fire and burned part of a home in South Brazos County. The fire broke out at the geodesic home off Straub around 5:30PM Wednesday evening.
Jim Thomas and his wife Lori Adams shot video of the fire after hearing the blast from their home just a block away. "We were watching the evening news when all of a sudden boom, kaboom and the house starting shaking, the cat did a back flip and the bird took off under the feeder.'" said Jim Thomas.
Fire officials say an 18 wheeler parked in front of the home caught fire and spread quickly, damaging four acres of grass, destroying the 18-wheeler and a tractor trailer and damaging the front part of the house.
South Brazos County Fire Department Captain Kenneth Utz says it took nearly two hours to tackle the fire because of the unusual shape of the structure. "Until we got some of the smoke out we couldn't tell that it was two story. It was hairy when we first got here."
The owner and several others were inside the home at the time, but everyone made it out safely.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
