Firefighter Aid to Come from Downtown Bryan

By  |

First Friday often draws big crowds to Downtown Bryan. The March 2013 edition will be the start of a weekend of giving for fallen and injured Bryan firefighters.

Friday at 6:30 p.m., the Downtown Bryan Association will host a memorial in honor of the four firefighters involved in February 15's fire at the Knights of Columbus Hall. It takes place in the 500 block of North Main Street.

In addition, from Friday through Sunday, nearly 20 businesses in the Downtown area are donating a portion of their proceeds to the Brazos Valley Media Giving Back Fund, a partnership between KBTX Media, Bryan Broadcasting and The Bryan/College Station Eagle.

That money goes to the families of Lieutenants Eric Wallace and Greg Pickard, who died in the line of duty. Firefighter Ricky Mantey and Probationary Firefighter Mitch Moran were seriously injured and remain hospitalized in Galveston. The fund also benefits them and their families.
