Children at the George Bush Presidential Library got to hear from a former first lady Thursday.

Barbara Bush read excerpts from award-winning author Lynn Curlee's book, "capital."

She also answered students' questions at the Reading Discovery Distance Learning Program.

The 2013 theme for the program is "the history of Washington, D.C., and the National Mall".
