First United Methodist Church Presenting "Godspell" Musical This Weekend

Updated: Wed 8:05 PM, Mar 20, 2013

The music of Broadway is coming here to Bryan this weekend as First United United Methodist Church presents a play on the ministry of Jesus Christ.

News 3 captured the sights and sounds of "Godspell."

"Godspell is a musical that was written and performed on Broadway starting back in 1971," said Rev. David Henry, First United Methodist Church of Bryan Music Minister.

"It's a very fun and entertaining show there's a lot of action that goes on. It's great for kids...

It's a very religious story telling the story of the life of Christ during his time of ministry and one of the reasons that we are doing it right now, meaning March 22nd and 23rd is that it's the two days right before the beginning of holy week...

So you can come and see this show and then if you go to church the next day it'll be palm Sunday," said Henry.

"It is a parable if you will, a musical parable from the Gospel of Matthew," he added

Tickets are $15 which include dinner. The musical is happening this Friday and Saturday, March 22nd and 23rd with the meal at 6 P.M. and show at 7 P.M.

You can contact the church at (979) 779-1324 to order tickets.

The church is located at 506 East 28th Street in Downtown Bryan.

The musical was written by Stephen Schwartz, who also composed the Broadway hit "Wicked."

News 3's Clay Falls is also performing in it.
