Congressman Bill Flores of Bryan held a town hall meeting at Blinn College Wednesday.

Flores took questions from the audience after a presentation on issues like the rising debt. He also criticized recent comments by President Obama, who said America can't drill its way out of the energy crisis. Flores pointed to natural gas.

"We've gone from a natural gas deficit to having a decade's worth of abundant, clean, cheap energy," Rep. Flores said. "Natural gas prices today are about the lowest they've been in ten years, and we didn't get that by wasting money on Solyndras. We got that by drilling for natural gas."

The Solyndra Corporation received a $535 million loan in 2009. While the effort was to help create jobs and help with alternative energy growth, the company filed for bankruptcy and laid off thousands of employees.

Flores held a town hall Tuesday in Waco.

The first-term congressman is opposed in next month's Republican primary by George W. Hindman from Austin, who is pledging to fight for small businesses and entrepreneurs. There are no Democrats running for the office.
