Flores' Private Info Sent Out by Tea Party Group

Congressman-elect Bill Flores is in Washington attending meetings that will get him ready to make the transition into office, but one group wasn't happy that he and other incoming freshmen didn't go to their meeting.

As reported by Fox News, the Tea Party Patriots organization sent out private phone and e-mail information of people who weren't coming to their event, encouraging its supporters to get touch with those representatives.

"We need you to call & e-mail these incoming Congressmen & tell them you want them to attend YOUR Tea Party Patriots event," the e-mail reads. "Or would you rather they attend an indoctrination organized by DC insiders and lobbyists, members of The Ruling Class?"

That so-called indoctrination was a Republican-led set of meetings at the Capitol Hill Club, where rules, procedures and ethics would be taught to incoming freshmen. Numerous other events and meetings are being held in Washington for the newly-elected representatives.

Flores issued a strong statement against Tea Party Patriots to Fox News.

"The TPP's tactics were inappropriate -- the posting of our private cell phone numbers and e-mail addresses along with the trashing of the Claremont Foundation's reputation were not professional actions and they were disruptive to our individual efforts to have effective transitions into our elected offices," he said.

The group would later apologize, saying they were not aware that some of the contact info was private.

"The intent was to use [this contact information] to invite the Freshman class to our orientation, and to communicate with them prior to the assignment of 'official,' government-issued phone numbers and email addresses," reads a second e-mail, as reported by AOL Politics Daily. "Unfortunately, it appears that some of the numbers we obtained truly were 'private' phone numbers and email addresses ...This was not our intent."

Flores, a Republican, defeated ten-term incumbent Democrat Chet Edwards earlier this month by a 25-point margin.
