Food for Families Food Drive Makes Big Impact Again

By  |

The Food for Families Food Drive has once again struck a blow in the fight against hunger in the Brazos Valley.

The 2013 edition of the event, held Wednesday, yielded 207,857 lbs of food and $166,938 in monetary donations to the Brazos Valley Food Bank.

To demonstrate just how far a dollar can go, the food bank can use one to buy five pounds of food, or the equivalent of four meals.

The Brazos Valley Food Bank serves about 40 agencies in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Washington Counties.

This was the 18th edition of the Food for Families Food Drive, which is held at the Brazos Center in Bryan, the Kimbro Center in Madisonville, and the Mid-South Synergy office in Navasota. News 3 broadcasts live from each site throughout the day starting at 5:30 a.m.

From KBTX and the food bank, our sincere thanks to the individuals, families, businesses and organizations that donated, as well as to those who volunteered their time to be a part of the event. Without you, none of this would be possible.
