Ford Hood Charity Tight-Lipped About $1M Collected

KILLEEN, Texas- A charity that collected $1 million after the Fort Hood shooting rampage says it's still working to distribute the money.

Officials for the Central Texas-Fort Hood chapter of the Association of the U.S. Army tell the Killeen Daily Herald that they worry about "unscrupulous individuals" trying to profit off the 2009 massacre that left 13 dead and more than 30 wounded.

The charity won't say how it spent the money or how many people received money. A spokesman said the charity hopes to dissolve the fund and distribute any remaining funds by the end of this year.

One wounded victim and the widow of a man killed tell the newspaper they've received help with various expenses.

The gunman in the massacre, Nidal Hasan, was sentenced to death in August.
