Just about everyday, in his College Station garage, you'll find Curtis Klingle clanking away.

The man who used to piece together crimes as a Bryan Crime Scene Investigator now pieces together knives of all shapes and sizes.

"I picked up knife making about four years ago," said Klingle.

After a fellow officer showed Klingle a custom knife, the blacksmith by hobby, made it a point to start making his own works of art.

"I started playing with it and it quickly moved from a hobby, to an obsession, to a full time job," said Klingle.

Curtis created C-M Forge and in a few short years, his knives have found homes all over the world.

"I loved crime scene work, but it was time for something new and this was it," said Klingle.

Curtis and his apprentice Sam work in the garage sometimes 11 hours a day, and that includes the sweltering summer season. From hunting knives to kitchen cutlery, they work all day just to be on the cutting edge.

"It's got to be right. It does not leave this shop unless it's as perfect as I can get it. If it's not, it's not leaving here," said Klingle.

It's simply a passion Curtis can't douse and it's all about providing a quality handmade tool.

"Just the common man can have a good knife," said Klingle.

Knives from C-M Forge start at $150 and you can find the knives at local stores like The Great Texas Gun Company, Burdett & Son and Independence Firearms.
