A Texas A&M student who tried to break tradition by being the first female Yell Leader is facing charges for theft.

20-year-old Samanta Ketcham is charged with stealing two bait bicycles from the campus.

She was arrested May 13th after Texas A&M University Police say the bicycles, which were being tracked with GPS, were discovered in her dorm room.

Last week the Brazos County Attorney charged Ketcham with two counts of misdemeanor theft.

If convicted she could face up to six months in jail or even up to a $2,000 fine.

Her mom Cheryl Ketcham told us in May her daughter thought she was picking up friends' bikes and helping them out by putting them in her dorm room.

A court date has not been set.

She was released from the Brazos County Jail May 14th after posting $6,000 bond.

Ketcham was briefly a finalist for Yell Leader this spring but ended up not being elected by students.
