Four More Suspects Arrested in Multi-County Theft Ring

More developments in the multi-county theft ring. A total of seven suspects are now facing serious charges for their involvement -- and authorities say the investigation is far from over.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of Logan McMann and Paden Earp. Dennis Curry has already been arrested and according to police reports; Rodney Welch was arrested during a traffic stop in Brazos County a few days ago. Cory Middleton, Aaron Keith Cannon and Jordan Davis Cook are three other suspects who were arrested weeks ago.

While each suspect may have played a different role in the ring, authorities believe the suspects got to work over the summer stealing ATV's, 4-wheelers, trailers and various farming equipment from rural area across Brazos, Grimes, Madison, Robertson and Waller Counties.

Cory Middleton is accused of leading a Madison County Sheriff's Deputy on pursuit near North Zulch on January 28th just after 3 a.m. The deputy received minor injuries after losing control of his patrol car during the high speed chase down Lone Star Road.

“Two deputies met a truck that was going to be a routine traffic stop because the trailer of the truck it was pulling didn't have any working tail lights,” said Madison County Sheriff’s Investigator Larry Shiver.

According to sheriff's deputies patrolling the northwest side of Madison County, the suspect behind the wheel of the dark maroon Chevrolet pick-up truck was later identified as 24-year-old Cory Middleton.

“He hit a fence, but then kept on driving about a quarter mile more down the road and abandoned his trailer that was carrying more than $35,000 of stolen property,” said Shiver. “We also found out the trailer was stolen too.”

After weeks of leads and tips, Madison County Sheriff’s Investigators have gathered enough evidence to issue warrants for Logan McMann and Paden Earp. The two were allegedly inside the pick-up truck with Middleton the night of the pursuit on Lone Star Road.

More suspects are being questioned in Madisonville as well as Grimes Counties.
