Brazos Valley Burn Bans: The following counties are under a Burn Ban: Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Houston, Lee, Leon, Madison, Milam, Robertson, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Washington
A funeral will be held Friday for a Bryan Fire Lieutenant killed in the line of duty while responding to a fire at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bryan.
A service will take place at 10 a.m. at Central Baptist Church in College Station, and a procession will follow from the church to the Aggie Field of Honor Cemetery in Bryan. Bryan city officials tell us the route of the procession is not a direct one; rather, it is designed to drive Lt. Pickard past his post at Fire Station No. 5 on Villa Maria Road in Bryan as a final tribute before proceeding to the cemetery. That procession is expected to tie up traffic along the route and will begin around 11:45 a.m.
Personnel from the Bryan and College Station Police Departments, Brazos County Sheriff's and Constables' Offices, and the University Police Department will block intersections as they normally would during funeral escorts, and release each intersection once those involved have made it through. The significant difference will be the length of time each intersection is blocked, so the community is asked to be patient during this time of reverence and, if possible, to find alternate routes during the midday.
The public is welcome to attend Friday's service.
