The Robertson County Judge reported around a dozen people stayed at the Community Center as a precaution during the incident.
The superintendent, Bret Lowery for Franklin ISD delayed school until 10 A.M.
As of 7:02 this morning the well was successfully shutdown and we're told it took about two hours to bring under control.
No injuries were reported and an XTO official said no explosion or fire occurred.
"We took a kick. During the process of circulating out the gas out of the well one of the pieces of equipment on the choke manifold failed and we had a release of gas temporarily. We have assessed the situation we went back up, we found a valve that we could shut and we shut the valve and secured the well. So the well is secure at this time," said Gene Young, an XTO Drilling Safety Supervisor.
Operations resumed at the gas well soon after the problem was fixed.
