Police say two Bryan men are responsible for gas thefts at the Bryan Municipal Golf Course.

The suspects are 28-year-old Joshua Nobles and 26-year-old Pedro Gavino Perez, according to Brazos County probable cause documents.

“They were only arrested for theft of about 55 gallons but we believe they're tied to the theft of 200 gallons of gasoline,” said Jon Agnew, Bryan Police Department Public Information Officer.

Bryan police discovered who the thieves were, but golf course managers also assisted with the investigation.

“It came to the point where it needed to be addressed and that's what I did,” said Bryan Municipal Golf Course Superintendent Dennis Wilganowski.

“They came up with the idea to put some surveillance equipment in the area to snap some photos of who the would be thieves were. Sure enough, it worked,” said Agnew.

Golf course employees monitored the thieves’ activities for about a month.

“When people were here watering at night time, they were at the other end of the property conducting their little monkey business,” said Wilganowski. “You can see their facial features, you can see piercings, you can see inks... It was like a little assembly line as they kept filling up their jugs to take it from point A to point B.”

Investigators say the suspects used some gas for themselves and sold some of it on the street. The suspects live less than half a mile from the golf course.

“If anyone is selling gasoline on the street from a container, that's something we definitely want to know about,” said Agnew.

Joshua Nobles was in custody at the Brazos County Jail Thursday. His bail was set at $2,000. Police are still actively looking for Pedro Gavino Perez.
