Governor Perry's office released a statement today regarding the Bryan Fire Department's loss of two officers in the line of duty:
"Last weekend, we lost two true Texas heroes in Lt. Eric Wallace and Lt. Gregory Pickard. They were outstanding examples of the type of individuals who will face injury or death in order to save the lives and property of others. Every day, first responders like Eric and Gregory run toward danger for the benefit of their neighbors, their community and their state. We will never forget their sacrifices. Anita and I send our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the men who died, and our best wishes for a full recovery to their two teammates who were seriously injured in the same fire."
The two Lieutenants died from injuries injuries were sustained while attempting to douse a large fire Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Bryan. The fire completely destroyed the building. Two other firefighters were seriously burned in the fire.
