Late Thursday morning, firefighters began working a grass fire on the west side of town.
According to scanner traffic, the fire was near the intersection of Highway 21 and Highway 47, which is the north side of the Texas A&M Riverside campus. Just after noon, the fire was under control.
The fire did not threaten any structures.
Authorities were in the area for traffic control, but no major backups were noted.
