Grimes County Fatal Car Accident

An Austin woman is dead after a tragic accident involving at least two vehicles collided off Highway 105 Sunday afternoon.

According to DPS State Trooper Jimmy Morgan, Anna Penz, 26 died at the scene after a 2002 Ford Explorer, driven by Marcelino Moreno-Rosenco, 46 traveling eastbound near County Road 423 west of Navasota came into contact with a Nissan pickup truck, driven by her husband, Matthew Penz 28, traveling westbound.

It's not exactly clear how the accident occurred, but DPS investigators said it happened around 1:22 p.m.

Matthew Penz was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital and Moreno-Rosenco was transported by ambulence.

Everyone was reportedly wearing a seatbelt.

Troopers spoke with a witness on scene and are investigating whether a third vehicle sparked the collision.
