AUSTIN, Texas (AP) A new gun range south of Austin has reopened despite local officials' orders to cease operations.
The Austin American Statesman reports that owners of the Shooting Range say city authorities have overstepped their authority by ordering them to shutter their business.
The gun range is on the outskirts of Creedmor in rural, southern Travis County.
It opened Dec. 26 but closed three days later due to zoning violations, after city officials said neighbors complained the property sounded like "a war zone."
The owners kept the range closed for a time, but reopened Friday. They say they only recognize the authority of the state of Texas, not city officials.
They are now threatening to sue Creedmor on Second Amendment grounds.
