Driving delays are just a few days away on a major road in College Station.

Construction crews are beginning a four month project to replace an aging water main along Harvey Road.

News 3 looked into what you can expect.

It's the calm before the storm of construction along Harvey Road in College Station.

The markings are up and equipment is being moved in to replace a 12 inch diameter water main between Scarlett O'Hara Drive and Munson Avenue.

It's news to a lot of people here including Susan Haynes.

She's the General Manager of Froyoyo Frozen Yogurt.

"I know there's been down the way, there's been people digging up with water lines," she said.

The work was to begin in full force Monday but due forecasted rain, will likely not start until Friday now.

Drivers can expect a possible lane closure on westbound Harvey Road between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM during work the next four months.

Driver Megan Mallamaci just got back into town from the holidays.

"With everything going on right here I normally just go to the back roads," said Mallamaci.

And worries about an area she says is already congested.

"It seems like we can't get over one construction before we start another one," she added.

Susan Haynes hopes her business won't be impacted and wishes the work will go quickly so yogurt sales can heat up.

"Hopefully they have it all done before summer break comes in, because that's when all the businesses start getting really busy," Haynes said.

The project manager with Dudley Construction tells us they don't expect any water service outages for residents or businesses during the project.

The Plantation Oaks Water Line Rehab Project will cost $621,232.

It is expected to be complete by the end of May and will improve water service and fire protection in the area.
