Minor Traffic Violation Leads to Drug Bust in Hearne

An Elgin couple was arrested Monday after Hearne Police conducted a traffic stop on their vehicle for a minor traffic violation. Hearne Officers stopped an SUV on Highway 6 for an Expired Registration Sticker.

Upon speaking with the driver and passenger, Officers felt something was out of place. While speaking with the female driver of the car, the male passenger tried to hide a glass Methamphetamine pipe between the seats of the car.

A search led to the discovery of large quantity of Crystal Methamphetamines and a large sum of cash. Officers found items consistent with the distribution and sell of Narcotics inside the car as well.

39-year-old Sandra Roller-Lee and 47-year-old Patrick Lee were arrested and charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, as well as multiple misdemeanor crimes.

If convicted both subjects could face up to 99 years in prison and a 10,000 dollar fine. Officers seized the currency as well as the vehicle used to transport the narcotics.
