Police released new developments in the investigation into the death of a former Hearne City Councilman found dead in his home earlier this week.

Hearne Police are now officially saying that Charles Workmans's death was a murder.

They say Workman's 2002 Jaguar was found burned on the side of Highway 6 between Bryan and Hearne on Sunday night.

Investigators confirmed it was Workman's body found inside his home Monday afternoon.

A Robertson County News reporter says Workman had been shot in the head.

Police say his body was sent to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

In a news release issued Thursday, Hearne Police said that the death is now being considered a homicide, and that several persons of interest have been identified.

They also said a joint agency investigation is underway with the Texas Rangers.
