NEW YORK The New York City Marathon has returned with big crowds and heightened security after a one-year absence due to Superstorm Sandy.
A record 50,740 runners started today's race, as bomb-sniffing dogs roamed the course and barricades limited access points to Central Park.
The Kenyan runner who set a course record last time, Geoffrey Mutai, successfully defended his title, while another Kenyan, Priscah Jeptoo, came from behind to win the women's race.
