So far around six people have already been hired.
Texas A&M and the educated workforce here also helped Hitachi Consulting choose to move here.
Hitachi Consulting, a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd (TSE: 6501) and a leading provider of IT and Management Consulting solutions and services, today announced that it has chosen Bryan-College Station Texas out of a potential 250 U.S. cities to host a new on-shore IT services delivery center for their global Managed Services business. The company plans to quickly establish a substantial presence in the region to further expand their global delivery scale. The center is expected to employ up to twenty five initially and could double that number in the next twelve to eighteen months, making Hitachi Consulting one of the top employers in the area outside of retail and the higher education.
The rigorous selection process for the facility initially included an analysis of consumer price index, population, geographic proximity to existing offices and commercial airports, preference for central time zone, and a strong supporting network of higher education offering IT degrees. In collaboration with the Research Valley Partnership and utilizing an innovative geospatial site selection tool, they then took their research one step further, collecting additional data regarding the average wage rate for IT jobs as well as number of IT employees in each market based on job classes. Bryan-College Station scored considerably higher than the competition and became the obvious best choice for Hitachi Consulting’s needs.
“It was extremely important to identify a location with a technologically diverse yet locally-centric talent pool together with access to a wide range of available functional and technical support skills across a broad mix of technologies.” said Jim Cole, Senior Vice President of Global Managed Services for Hitachi Consulting. “We found this unique mix in Bryan-College Station and are very excited to become a significant contributor to the local economy while helping to deliver the solutions our clients are demanding.”
“We are thrilled that Hitachi Consulting has chosen Bryan-College Station to locate their new delivery center,” said Todd E. McDaniel, CEcD, President/CEO of the Research Valley Partnership. “They are an industry leader bringing new IT jobs to our area. We are proud they can leverage our strong network of high-quality universities and state of the art technical infrastructure to further develop their business while opening up exciting employment opportunities for our community.”
