HOUSTON (AP) - A 15-year-old Houston-area girl has been hospitalized after being attacked by the family's two pit bulls and suffering more than 100 puncture wounds.
Kasandra Benavides was mauled Wednesday afternoon while giving the 8-month-old dogs some food and water.
KHOU-TV (http://bit.ly/12svtso ) reports Kasandra suffered leg injuries and required stitches but is expected to recover. Hospital officials Thursday didn't immediately update her condition.
Juan Ruiz says his daughter helped raise the dogs and he says the animals never displayed any aggressiveness before the attack. Animal control officials have placed the two dogs in quarantine.
Ruiz says he doesn't want the animals back at his home in northeast Harris County.
