Hundreds Gather at Brazos Valley Fair, Texas Rally, Kolache Festival

Updated: Sat 7:02 PM, Sep 08, 2012

There was something for everyone in the Brazos Valley Saturday.

In Bryan, there was the inaugural Brazos Valley Fair.

“We don't have to drive, we don't have to spend the night in the hotel. We don't have to spend any more money than we already do,” said Cassie Brown and Courtney Thurman.

The first ever Brazos Valley Fair featured food, fun rides, and a livestock show.

For people who prefer a different kind of ride, there was the 6th annual Texas Rally at Lake Someville.

Thousands of bikers travelled to the Brazos Valley for the motorcycle.

“I'm a Motorhead. You can hear the motorcycles in the background. It’s fun. It’s exciting. You can come out and celebrate life together and have a little bit of fun with like-minded people,” said Buda, Texas Rally EMC.

Like-minded people also gathered in Caldwell for the annual Kolache Festival.

“All the things that go with Czech heritage. All the songs, the people you meet. It’s just wonderful,” said Ethel Zavodny, a long-time Caldwell resident.

“It’s my heritage. It’s my grandmother's recipe. A way to get back to my roots,” said Jody Powers, owner of Zamkals Gourmet Kolaches.

With so much going on in the Brazos Valley, Buda at the biker rally said it best.

“There's more things going on here today than you can possibly imagine,” said Buda.
