Ladder Arch, Hundreds Wait at End of Procession for Constable

Updated: Sun 10:21 AM, Aug 19, 2012

The weather matched the mood as people lined up, hours early, to pay their final respects to Constable Brian Bachmann.

“I can’t do this without crying...the officers who are out there putting their lives on the line every day to protect us. This is the least we can do,” said Anna Clements, a Kurten resident.

Firefighters from Bryan and College Station extended the ladders of their ladder trucks to form an arch with a flag flying over Texas Avenue. Everyone, young and old, was moved by the display.

“These guys get up every day, and they put that uniform on. They don't know whether they're coming home or not,” said Kim Sorrell..

Officers from all over Texas put their uniforms on and drove to College Station to say goodbye to Constable Bachmann.

“The people have big hearts and kind hearts. They're out here showing their appreciation the same as I am,” said Clements.

People lined Texas Avenue to show appreciation to the officers who put their lives on the line, and their families.

“Our prayers and condolences go to the family. We’ll be thinking of them,” said Sorrell.
