Ice Continues to Cause Problems in Texas

DALLAS About 117,000 homes and businesses in the Dallas area are without power after an ice storm Friday. And more than 350 departing flights have been canceled this morning at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, where about 3,300 passengers spent the night.

Ice and its effects also forced the sporadic closures of freeways and interchanges in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, as well as a hilly stretch of Interstate 20 between Weatherford and Ranger.

The ice that's built up on Texas roads and trees isn't likely to go away soon. The National Weather Service says subfreezing temperatures will continue through the weekend, including single digits in the Panhandle and South Plains. Teens and 20s are expected in the northern half of the state.

Forecasters also say there's a chance of freezing drizzle for much of the state today.
