An intoxicated man was arrested Sunday morning after he strikes an officer in the face during his attempt to flee from police.
College Station Police said at 1:25 a.m. they performed a traffic stop after they noticed a vehicle drove over the concrete divider in the 1100 block of Texas Avenue. Police said further investigation revealed that Michael Thomas Massee, 23 of College Station was driving under the influence. In an attempt to escort Massee out of the car, authorities said he resisted arrest by trying to turn around, and by flailing his hands so he could not be handcuffed. During their attempt to handcuff Massee, police said he spun away from officers, forcefully breaking the grip they had on his hands. In doing this, authorities said Massee intentionally struck an officer on the right side of her face, with his closed fist. The officer that was hit sustained a contusion under her right eye. He was then placed on the ground and handcuffed.
Massee was charged with assault on a public servant, driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest.
