Iran Denies Link with Canada Terror Plot Suspects

TORONTO (AP) - Canadian authorities say two men accused of plotting a terrorist attack against a Canadian passenger train were working with "direction and guidance" from al-Qaida members in Iran.

The case is raising questions about the relationship between Iran -- which is led by Shiites -- and the terrorist network, which is mostly Sunni Arab.

Iran is denying any link with the two suspects.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman says there is "no firm evidence" of any Iranian involvement and groups such as al-Qaida have "no compatibility with Iran in both political and ideological fields."
