KBTX News 3 earned five nominations for the 2013 Lone Star Emmy Awards, it was announced Friday.
Four of the five were in the newscast category for stations outside the four largest metro areas in Texas. There were seven total nominees in the category.
KBTX was recognized with nominations for a pair of newscasts in the aftermath of the Knights of Columbus Hall fire in Bryan, along with one for a newscast following the Fidelity Street shooting in College Station, and a fourth for News 3's coverage the night of Johnny Manziel's Heisman Trophy win.
At last year's Lone Star Emmy Awards, KBTX won in the same category for coverage of a severe weather event.
The fifth nomination for the 2013 Emmy's went to former KBTX reporter Shane McAuliffe in the Texas Heritage news series category for his Brazos Valley Bucket List. The series helped spawn McAuliffe's Texas Bucket List television show, which airs Sundays at 9:30 a.m. on CW8 Aggieland.
McAuliffe and Meredith Stancik are previous Emmy winners for their "To Avery With Love" series featuring a local family whose child died, and an ill Massachusetts girl received some of his organs.
The five nominations in 2013 are the most for a single year in KBTX's history.
The 11th Lone Star Emmy Awards will be announced at an event in San Antonio in November.
