Texas A&M University Science and space are coming alive at Texas A&M University Tuesday.
50 area middle school students are taking part in Summer Science Camp.
Campers teamed up with former NASA Astronaut Dr. Bernard Harris for a competition Tuesday morning making spacesuits out of household items.
They were then tested to see how durable the suits were with impact tests.
The program is designed to encourage less fortunate kids to learn more about science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
"We as the Exxon Mobil Foundation and the Harris Foundation are believers in investing in the future and when you look at the camp, it is part of that investment," said Dr. Bernard Harris, Founder and President of the Harris Foundation.
The two week free program for students is one of 20 campus happening on college campuses across the country.
