The construction company that worked on Cowboys Stadium in Arlington and Reliant Stadium in Houston will add one more Texas football landmark to its name: Kyle Field.

Friday, Texas A&M announced that Manhattan-Vaughn Construction will work on the redevelopment of the Aggies' stadium. That team will work with the Populous design team to draw up a conceptual plan.

A final recommendation for the seating, construction stages and cost will eventually be made to A&M President R. Bowen Loftin.

"We are extremely pleased at the quality of the teams who bid in this RFP process. Manhattan-Vaughn is a world-class team and provided a best value bid of 1.2 percent," A&M System Chancellor John Sharp said in a statement. "Houston-based Project Control has confirmed that this is the lowest comparative project bid in the nation. When the A&M System Board of Regents and Texas A&M decide to move forward, we will be ready. Congratulations to the winners and to my staff and committee for great and remarkable work."

Manhattan-Vaughn Construction is made up of Manhattan Construction Group and Vaughn Construction.

"Manhattan-Vaughn is thrilled to have been selected for the Kyle Field Redevelopment project," Manhattan-Vaughn project director Greg McClure said in the same statement. "As former students of Texas A&M, both Bill Vaughn and I could not be more proud to have the opportunity to be part of the new history at Kyle Field. All of our colleagues at Manhattan-Vaughn are extremely excited about the opportunity to serve Texas A&M on this incredible project."

Phase 1 of the project has been listed as the tear-down and reconstruction of the west stands, also known as the alumni side of Kyle. That first phase also includes the demolition of G. Rollie White Coliseum, the Read Building and Steed training facility. The Board of Regents recently voted to move that phase to the current fiscal year.

However, A&M officials have said the order of which parts of Kyle are worked on first could be changed depending on the plan developed by Manhattan-Vaughn and Populous

Both the west and east stands would see major overhauls, and a new set of stands and facilities would be build on the south end.

The A&M System put out a request for proposal for a construction company in November.

News 3 has been told that a working figure on the Kyle redevelopment project is $425 million, and the cities of College Station and Bryan, along with Brazos County, have been presented with the idea that together, they may be asked for $38 million.
