A Southeast Texas library has asked the public for help in tracking the history of the first rail line to reach Galveston.
The Galveston County Daily News reported Sunday that the research effort involves the Rosenberg Library's Galveston and Texas History Center.
The Galveston, Houston and Henderson Railroad was chartered in 1853. The railway reached Galveston in 1860 upon completion of a bridge across Galveston Bay.
Library officials are seeking photographs of Galveston, Houston and Henderson equipment, personnel, facilities and operations.
