It's a chance every golfer dreams of-playing in a PGA event.
For one Bryan resident, he's living that dream.
Miramont Country Club Assistant Golf Professional Clay Wonnell will be playing in the Shell Houston Open this week. The pro got the shot at the big time by winning the South Texas PGA Section Championship last fall.
Wonnell will be going head to head with players like Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson, and Keegan Bradley competing for over $6 million in prize money.
This is Clay's first PGA event and having spent the past few days in Houston getting ready for the chance of a lifetime, he has let the incredible experience sink in.
"I never would have dreamed that I'd have this opportunity so I'm just trying to take a break from hitting balls every so often and look around and enjoy it," said Wonnell.
Clay will tee off at the Shell Houston Open tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon and we'll have a live report about his progress from Houston during News Three at six, which will air at 5:30 p.m. Thursday because of the March Madness basketball schedule.
