Local Hotel Employee Arrested For Theft

A local hotel housekeeper has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $8,000 worth of jewelery from a College Station hotel room.

Police responded to a report of a theft at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in the 1500 block of Texas Avenue Saturday.

The victim told investigators that she had left some jewelry on the night stand in her hotel room and, when she returned, it was missing.

An officer was able to identify the employee, 18- year-old Jessica Marie Reyes, as the suspect in the theft.

Police say they recovered the stolen jewelry at Reyes' house.

Police say Reyes admitted she'd made a terrible mistake and the 1.3 carat diamond earring and a cubic zirconia earring were worth a combined $8,320.

The Bryan resident is charged with theft between $1500-$20,000 which is a state jail felony.

She bonded out of jail Sunday afternoon after posting $10,000 bond.
