Local Law Enforcement Heading to DC Inauguration

One week from Monday in Washington, the current president, Barack Obama, will be sworn in for a second term at a public ceremony at the U.S. Capitol.

As you might imagine, it takes quite a bit of security to make sure things go off smoothly, and that's where law enforcement from across the nation come in, including some locals.

About 60 members of area agencies will be part of the massive security detail on hand to protect the attendees and the dignitaries, including half-a-dozen members of the University Police Department from Texas A&M.

Sgt. Ed Costello will be part of his second inauguration. He previously worked the 2008 event, and he's going to five first-timers from UPD.

Costello appeared on First News at Four Monday to talk about his trip.

Rehearsals were in full swing Sunday, including practicing for the parade along the National Mall.

This coming Saturday will be a National Day of Service, with the official swearing-in of the president on Sunday. Then, a week from Monday will be the public swearing-in.
