Local Papa John’s Making Changes After Armed Robbery

Updated: Mon 10:51 PM, Oct 01, 2012

Management at a local Papa John's Pizza say they are making some changes after the restaurant was robbed.

Police are still looking for two suspects who they say held up the Papa John's on Texas Avenue in North Bryan Sunday afternoon. According to investigators, the suspects fled on foot with cash.

We spoke with the manager of that Papa John's location who says the restaurant has been open for less than a year.

"It was very surprising, but you know I was more concerned that nobody got hurt,” said Thomas Allen, the store director of operations.

Allen says he can’t believe his restaurant was robbed.

“When I found out that nobody was hurt, there were no injuries or anything like that, I was really relieved.”

The Papa John's opened in January.

"It's a well-populated area. This area is growing. We felt that coming into this area, this is a perfect demographic for Papa John's,” said Allen.

Some changes to the fairly new restaurant include changing employee schedules to make sure no employee is ever working alone.

"We will install cameras in our establishment, and then our procedures as far as making sure we have more than one employee at the facility at all times,” said Allen. "There's a lot of good that happens in life, there's a lot of bad that happens in life. You basically have to take it as it comes. You have to get up and keep going."

Police are still looking for the suspects. If you have any information, you are asked to call the Bryan Police Department at (979) 209-5300.
