A report from the Texas Workforce Commission released shows the jobless rate slipped for the fourth straight month, which is now 6.1%. Reports state that during 2012 a total of 260, 800 jobs were added.

In Brazos County, the unemployment rate is about 6.1% which matches that of the state as a whole. Although the numbers are looking up as a whole, there are plenty of those left that are still looking for a foot in the door.

A number of people are on the hunt for a job.

"Looking for a job is a full-time job, I've never spent so much time on the computer in my life," Candice Pellegrino.

Candice Pellegrino has been a Physician Assistant for more than 30 years, but has been out of work for the past year and a half.

She has two interviews scheduled today.

"I'm looking forward to getting a job and have the opportunity to take care of patients, which is what I enjoy doing the most," said Pellegrino.

In Bryan-College Station the Texas Workforce Commission reports that the unemployment rate is down from 5.1% in November to 5% in December 2012. Which means that $5,800 people are unemployed.

Tom Wilkinson with the Brazos Valley Workforce aims to train and employ those without jobs.

"As the economy improves and those employers create those jobs then we will prepare the people for it. That's why we only spend money for jobs that are available, coming in this area," said Wilkinson.

Clifton Walter received his Commercial Driver's License through the workforce. The license allows him to operate large vehicles and buses. After being unemployed for three weeks, things are looking up.

"Recently I had an interview with Pepsi. I think the process went pretty good, I answered all his questions. I think it was a positive outlook, but I'm just waiting on them to give me a call back and if they do I'll just further my career," said Clifton Walter.

As the new year rolls in many people say they are hoping that more jobs will come along with it.
