It's a chance for local law enforcement to hit the pavement for a good cause.

The Texas Law Enforcement Torch Run took place in Bryan-College Station Wednesday afternoon. Officers from the Gulf Coast area including here in Aggieland ran from the Texas Roadhouse in College Station to the Bryan Walmart to raise awareness for the Special Olympics.

This weekend the special olympic state games will take place in Arlington and the torch will make its way to north Texas in time for the games.

As you can imagine, all the officers on the road got a lot of attention.

"A lot of people think there is something wrong and a lot of people wondering what is going on. We get a lot of looks for this torch run," joked Jason James with the Bryan Police Department.

The Special Olympics Texas provides sports training and athletic competition to 40,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities.
