Early morning severe weather has moved east of the Brazos Valley, taking the damaging wind and tornado threat out of the area as well. While the severe weather threat has passed, we'll need to monitor areas of minor flooding and down tree limbs on area roads. A tornado watch remains in place for most of the area -- however, that should be canceled by the National Weather Service shortly.
A popular College Station jewelry store has been a gem to many, but is closing up shop.
The owners of Douglas Jewelers are retiring and closing the business. As a result, the store on University Drive was packed with Christmas shoppers and those looking for a deal. The jewelry store has been open almost 50 years, but Ronnie and Sandy Arrington say they're closing their doors to spend more time with family.
Sandra Arrington's parents opened Edward's Jewelers in the early 60's, which later became Douglas Jewelers.
Since then they have operated in several locations and have served thousands of customers.
