LUBBOCK, Texas - - A West Texas man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison for using a computer and recycled newsprint paper to make and pass fake money.

A federal judge in Lubbock on Friday sentenced 29-year-old Harley Graves. Prosecutors say the Lubbock man in August pleaded guilty to conspiracy to manufacture, possess and pass counterfeit U.S. currency. Graves also must make $4,600 in restitution.

Investigators say Graves produced the fake bills while in a hotel room. Officers seized a laptop computer, a printer, glue sticks, stacks of paper and counterfeit currency.

Two other men charged in the case have been convicted and were sentenced last month to prison. Investigators say the trio passed bogus money at restaurants and retail stores throughout Lubbock.
