Madisonville Daycare Owner Indicted for Allegedly Molesting Child

A Madisonville daycare owner has been indicted for allegedly molesting a child attending the daycare three years ago.

Curtis O'Brien, a long-time Madisonville resident, was indicted for sexual assault of a child Monday.

O'Brien turned himself in to Madison County Sheriffs Deputies, then bonded out of jail later that day.

Investigators say the alleged abuse happened at Rita's Daycare in Madisonville in 2009.

Madison County Sheriff's Deputies referred to this investigation as a cold case.

They were able to finally bring the case before a grand jury with the help of Texas Rangers.

O'Brien was not available for comment Wednesday, but his attorney Roger Knight spoke on his behalf.

"We think Curtis is not guilty. I've known Curtis since he was a small boy, I've known him a long time. I've never known him to do anything untoward, illegal, immoral, unethical, or anything else." says Knight.

Knight says O'Brien plans to plead not guilty to the charges.

Rita's Playschool is still open.
