A Magnolia mother has been sentenced to 40 years in jail for stabbing her 5-year-old son.
In March of 2012 police say, Daphne Spurlock's husband found their son Michael severely beaten and in critical condition.
He was taken to Texas Medical Center in Houston.
Daphne Spurlock confessed to police that she had repeatedly stomped on the child's neck, head, and cut his throat in an attempt to rid him of demonic possession.
Spurlock was charged with Injury to a Child at that time and on Thursday she was found guilty of the crime.
Michael spent a month in the hospital and the next 18 months in rehab.
He still has an impairment with his foot and cannot run like most children.
