A College Station Police officer was involved in a major accident Tuesday afternoon along Texas Avenue near Harvey Mitchell Parkway.

Police say an officer was responding to an accident when a car pulled into the path of the officer. The patrol car was unable to completely avoid the collision and was struck on the passenger side.

Both the driver of the vehicle involved and an independent witness indicated that a semi-truck and trailer had been obstructing their view and waving the vehicle onto Texas Avenue. There were no major injuries reported, and some lanes of traffic were temporarily shut down.
